Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you feel confident and comfortable before your first visit.
Do I need any experience to join a class?
Not at all — everyone is welcome, whether you’re brand new to Pilates or have been practising for years.
Our friendly instructors will guide you throughout the class and always offer options to suit your level. Every session is adaptable, with progressions if you’d like more of a challenge and plenty of support if you’re just getting started.
Which class should I start with?
If you’re new to Reformer Pilates, we recommend starting with Reformer Foundations. It moves at a steadier pace and focuses on technique, helping you feel confident with the equipment and key movement patterns.
From there, many clients move into Reformer Mixed Ability, which is a more dynamic class suitable for a range of experience levels.
Reformer Strength is a great option if you enjoy building strength using optional weights and resistance.
Reformer Elevate is best suited to clients who already feel confident on the Reformer and are ready for more layered, flowing and challenging movement.
If you’re ever unsure, just ask — we’re always happy to help you choose the class that’s right for you.
What’s the difference between Mat and Reformer Pilates?
Both follow the same core principles — breath, control, alignment and core strength — but the main difference is the equipment.
Mat Pilates is done on the floor using your own bodyweight (and sometimes small props like bands or rings). It’s brilliant for building strength, flexibility and balance.
Reformer Pilates uses a specially designed machine with a moving carriage, springs, ropes and pulleys. It adds both resistance and support, allowing for a greater range of motion and more variation. It’s low-impact, joint-friendly, and suitable whether you’re recovering from injury, new to Pilates, or looking to progress your practice.
Both are wonderful — it just depends what you enjoy and what your body needs.
What should I bring to my first class?
Just bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable, stretchy clothes you can move easily in.
We provide all the equipment, but grip socks are required for Reformer classes for hygiene and safety. If you don’t have a pair yet, you can buy them at the studio.
What should I wear to class?
Anything comfortable and fairly form-fitting is perfect. We recommend avoiding very loose clothing so instructors can help you with alignment and technique if needed.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving about 10 minutes before your class starts so you have time to settle in, check in with your instructor, and get set up.
Is there parking?
Yes — we have plenty of free on-site parking right outside the studio.
Can I book online?
Yes! You can view our full timetable and book classes easily at studiocore.co.uk.
Do you offer private sessions?
We do. You can book a 1:1 or 2:1 session tailored to your individual goals. To arrange a private session, just email us at info@studiocore.co.uk.
Can I book a private group class with friends?
Absolutely — if you’d like to book a private Reformer class for a group of up to five, just get in touch and we’ll help organise a time that works for you.
Are your instructors qualified?
Yes — all of our instructors are fully certified, experienced, and passionate about helping you move well and feel great. You’re in expert hands.
Can I do classes if I’m pregnant or recently had a baby?
Yes — we offer classes suitable for pre- and postnatal clients. Please let us know before class so we can offer appropriate modifications and make sure you’re supported safely.
What’s your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule, just let us know before that window so you don’t lose your session credit. We do need to stick quite firmly to this policy so that it stays fair for our instructors and for other clients who may be waiting for a space.
